Round-up: Top 10 Vegan Cookbooks This Holiday Season

November 27, 2009

Today marks the official start of the holiday shopping season, so we thought we’d give you some ideas. Cookbooks make a great gift for anyone on your shopping list, and we’ve put together a list of great books for you to consider. Some of them we own ourselves, some we are hoping to receive as gifts this season and all are available from our local independent bookseller in Spokane, Auntie’s.

NPR listed Clean Food as one of their 10 Best Cookbooks of 2009. How’s that for mainstream appeal?

From the guy who introduced Oprah to a vegan diet (if only for a few weeks), we have The Conscious Cook.

Movie star turned activist and now cookbook author, Alicia Silverstone gives us The Kind Diet.

With 1,000 Vegan Recipes at your disposal, it’s hard to imagine you’d ever be at a loss for dinner ideas.

From the author of one of our favorite blogs,  The Urban Vegan offers recipes inspired by street cart fare and cafe cuisine.

The Napoleons we served at the Sarah Kramer event were based on a recipe from Vegan Yum Yum, another one of our favorite blogs.

A natural follow-up to Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the WorldVegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar is the latest from our favorite Portlander.

Did you know that Washington state is home to a vegan cookbook author?  Vegan Lunch Box Around the World is the latest from Central Washington resident, Jennifer McCann.

Offering healthy alternatives to traditionally heavy southern food,  Vegan Soul Kitchen also offers music suggestions to go along with each recipe.

Sarah Kramer gives us full color photos for the first time ever with her 10th anniversary edition of How it All Vegan. We recently had the opportunity to meet Sarah and have to say she’s just so nice! This cookbook should be at the top of your list for anyone interested in food and the DIY lifestyle.
